John Storrs “Josh” Hall PhD is an award-winning Futurist, Scientist, and Author. Josh founded the sci.nanotech Usenet newsgroup and and served as the founding chief scientist of Nanorex Inc. Josh also served as president of the foresight institute and was awarded the Feynman Communication prize in 2006.
In his incredible work Where Is My Flying Car?, “Hall sets out to answer the deceptively simple question posed in the book’s title. What starts as an exploration of the technical limitations of building flying cars evolves into an examination of the global economic stagnation that started in the 1970s…Hall then outlines a framework for a future powered by exponential progress—one in which we build as much in the world of atoms as we do in the world of bits, one rich in abundance and wonder.”
In this episode, “Josh” and I discuss:
- Why, and how, he came out of retirement to write “Where is my flying car”
- How the convergence of Nuclear Power, Nanotechnology, and Artificial Intelligence interact and mutually accelerate advancement
- Why we're going to see a second Industrial Revolution
- How these trends effect everything from space colonization to agriculture and cities
