Sheila began her artistic career in the 1970s as a writer and poet. She has written and produced several staged readings/performances, appeared in the Ascension Poetry Reading Series, and was a founding member of Free DC the Writer's Workshop. In the 1990s she began working in fine art, sculpture, and public art. Recent commissions have included public art for the New St. Elizabeths’ Hospital, Anacostia High School, Community of Hope Conway Clinic, and St. Elizabeth East and the Concord Apartment Building in Crystal City.
