Michael has a lot to worry about. Its the 1950&#8217;s. He is a ten year old boy to whom the world is a scary, scary place. Strict parents enforcing the American Dream through stern glances and verbal threats are the medium through which he experiences the fears of a post-WW II America. The bomb and societal norms being threatened are nothing compared to what Michael deals with on a daily basis. I mean, imagine if you had to eat leftovers everyday? 
And your parents were cannibals.
