In episode 20 of telling their stories, offensive coordinator for the Salisbury Sabres in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Mike Taylor, shares with us his unique sporting background of playing AAA hockey, football being his passion, and had to play rugby instead of football. Taylor speaks about the pressures of coaching, not only young men, but his own teenage sons who are now entering USports. He brings to us an honest picture of tragedy that he has faced with mental illness in those he has known and how we can prepare our young people to face similar circumstances. TACKLE it Health & Wellness Society bring to you “Telling their stories” - an interview-based podcast with survivors of suicide, as well as families/friends of Canadian high school and university aged football players who have passed by suicide or who are dealing with mental health challenges.  Guest speakers will also include mental health professionals, sport psychologists, and other notable football personalities.These conversations are a reminder that we are not alone. We hope that these discussions will help honour the memories of those no longer with us, as well as give a voice to those who are still struggling. We also aim to eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness among football players.
