In episode 12 of telling their stories, York University commit, Mackenzie Dunford, shares with us his recent decision to come out and how his mental health journey was affected throughout. Dunford is a 6'4" 255lbs lineman who had committed to Vanier, but with the pandemic and cancelled season, he was unable to play. Prior to that, he played with Kingston Jr. Gaels and Sydenham High School. He is now advocating for LGBTQ athletes and has stated a website, LGBTQ in Sports: Bringing the stories of LGBTQ athletes to life. TACKLE TALK JANUARY - Angus Reid

TACKLE it Health & Wellness Society bring to you “Telling their stories” - an interview-based podcast with survivors of suicide, as well as families/friends of Canadian high school and university aged football players who have passed by suicide or who are dealing with mental health challenges.  Guest speakers will also include mental health professionals, sport psychologists, and other notable football personalities.These conversations are a reminder that we are not alone. We hope that these discussions will help honour the memories of those no longer with us, as well as give a voice to those who are still struggling. We also aim to eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness among football players.
