In episode 7 of 'telling their stories', coach and teacher, Jean Sorphia Guillaume out of Ottawa, Ontario, speaks about his journey immigrating from Haiti to Montreal and his football evolution from Sun Youth to Vanier to the University of Montreal. He goes on to emphasize the importance of education and being a contributing member of the community that you live in.
On a deeper level, Coach Jean speaks about the value of treating your athletes with value and dignity, no matter what they are experiencing. The relationship you have with your players all depends on being authentic and treating the information that they choose to share with you with care.
Thank you, Coach Jean, for all your great insight, both from a social worker and teacher perspective and from the coach and mentor perspective. We appreciate all you do for your athletes.
