On episode 3 of telling their stories is Brad Black from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Brad is the founder of the elite football training program, Recruit Ready, which he started in 2013. Brad shares with us his own personal story as well as his experience with mental health from working at risk youth in Correctional Services, as well as how, as a coach, he puts a premium on the relationships with his athletes to be able to have difficult and meaningful conversations with them. We also talk about resources that are available for people to get basic level training in mental health as well as what the role of coaches is, or should be, in that. TACKLE it Health & Wellness Society bring to you “Telling their stories” - an interview-based podcast with survivors of suicide, as well as families/friends of Canadian high school and university aged football players who have passed by suicide or who are dealing with mental health challenges.  Guest speakers will also include mental health professionals, sport psychologists, and other notable football personalities.These conversations are a reminder that we are not alone. We hope that these discussions will help honour the memories of those no longer with us, as well as give a voice to those who are still struggling. We also aim to eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness among football players.
