As Deputy Mayor, Jennifer McKelvie has assumed the responsibilities of Mayor until a new Mayor is elected. She is focused on ensuring good governance and stability at City Hall over the coming months, working with City Council and other orders of government to build more housing, get more transit built, and to keep communities safe.

​As the City Councillor for Ward 25: Scarborough - Rouge Park since 2018, She continues working with residents and the greater community to build a better and more livable city. She also serves as Chair of the Infrastructure and Environment Committee, and in that capacity have been working to advance the City of Toronto ravine strategy and climate action plan. She also sits on the Board for the Green Municipal Fund, which supports municipalities across Canada to adopt sustainable practices.

Before entering local politics, McKelvie was a Professional Geoscientist and managed industrial-academic partnerships in the non-profit sector.
