Imposter Syndrome is a fear of being found out and often the catalyst is a change within the business.

Owners of start-ups might feel uncertain about their new role and reluctant to refer to themselves as an authority in their sector. As a result, they tend to under-charge and over-service.

Imposter Syndrome can also affect more established businesses, where the owner needs to step back from running the day-to-day and take on a more strategic role. This change in identity can cause a lack of confidence and feeling like a fraud.

As the business grows, staff also have to adapt their role to meet its changing needs and may start to question the value they bring.
