– A brief overview of these chapters.

– The mortal journey is fraught with challenges.

– Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the God of the Old Testament.

– The Saints are to be a peculiar people.

– The liturgical symbols of the stone and the tree in the Holy of Holies.

– Peter encourages the Saints to submit to the powers of their day. These were known as “Household Codes.”

– Peter quotes the Servant Song of Isaiah 53 in 1 Peter 2.21-25.

– Husbands should protect and honor their wives. Jesus Christ will rule as king of kings.

– Jesus Christ preached to the spirits in the spirit world between the time of his death and resurrection.

– 2 Peter is a polemic against the false teachers that were causing confusion in the early church. Balaam is a complex character in the Hebrew Bible and is addressed in 2 Peter 2.

– Peter urges the Saints to make their calling and election sure. The Saints receive grace for grace, growing line upon line.
