– A brief overview of these chapters.

– Peter is commanded to take the gospel to the Gentiles, starting with Cornelius who is a Roman centurion.

– As Gentiles are brought into the Church, a disagreement arises between Peter and strict followers of the Jewish law.

– James, the brother of John, is martyred for his belief in Christ. Peter is freed from prison by an angel. We should avoid comparing our trials to other people’s mercies.

– Christian tradition relates that many of the apostles were martyred.

– Paul and Barnabas are called to missionary service.

– The apostles meet at the Jerusalem Conference and conclude that Gentiles can be baptized without circumcision. This meeting shows us how we can council more effectively today.
