Ep 197 | Matthew 15-17; Mark 7-9, Come Follow Me 2023 (April 10-16)

– An overview of these chapters.

– The Pharisees contend with Jesus over the tradition of hand washing. Jesus is more concerned with the weightier matters of the law.

– Jesus departs, traveling far to heal a deaf man.

– Spitting, Jesus put his finger into the deaf man’s ears and heals him.

– A woman of Canaan cries out for Jesus to heal her daughter. Jesus refers to these foreigners as “dogs” and heals her.

– Jesus feeds the 4,000 in the region of the Decapolis.

– Caesarea Philippi was a place of pagan worship in Jesus’ time. This location was also where the Book of Enoch relates that dark spirits covenanted to overthrow God’s Kingdom.

– “Whom say ye that I am?”

– Jesus establishes His Church. Peter testifies that Jesus is the Christ and is promised the Keys of the Kingdom.

– “Upon this rock I will build my church.”

– Jesus foretells his death and resurrection. Peter is rebuked when he discourages him from fulfilling his mission through suffering.

– A blind man comes to Jesus and is healed by degrees.

– “Tell no man!”

– Jesus is transfigured before Peter, James, and John.

– Jesus heals a man’s son that is possessed of a devil. Throughout the New Testament, Jesus demonstrates his power over the Adversary.
