Tafseer is a love letter to one of the most beautiful languages there is: Urdu. With this podcast, I aim to break down and explain the meaning of Urdu ghazals, nazm and poems to an audience who loves the language, but wants to understand it more deeply. It is not a scholarly lecture, but rather an attempt to familiarise one with Urdu literature.

Tafseer is an initiative to make Urdu cool again. Being one of India’s most beautiful languages, poetry in Urdu is heard and appreciated by many. However, there is no platform which actually breaks it down and interprets the words for those literature lovers. As a love letter to the language that taught me love, I will be introducing to you and explaining the best of Urdu poetry. These interpretations don’t come from a place of scholarly pretense, but as an attempt to make Urdu simpler and tell you what it means to me, so that you can understand and give your own meaning to it.
