In this sermon we looked at Jesus' letter to the church in Pergamum. This was a major city in Asia Minor at the time, with a library boasting over 200,000 volumes and massive temples dedicated to Athena, Zeus, and Asklepios, among others. It was a place of intense persecution for any who wished to follow Jesus, and that's precisely the situation that faced the church in Pergamum.
