Tune in as Dr. Junak and Dr. Giambattista discuss the most common shoulder pain diagnosis - the dreaded rotator cuff tear. When a shoulder injury happens, the first expert many patients consult with (which WE DO NOT APPROVE of) is “Doctor Google”. If Google doesn’t scare them into thinking they have a catastrophic injury, then most patients tend to search the web until they come to the self diagnosis of a rotator cuff tear. Rotator cuff injuries are often given a bad wrap and are frequently mismanaged throughout the medical system. In this episode we cover: the symptoms of a rotator cuff tear, the overall prevalence of rotator cuff injuries, and conservative versus surgical repair options! If your goal is to better understand the research behind rotator cuff injuries, then this podcast episode is for you.
