We are Amy E. Powell and Betsy Bowman, and in each episode of Stereotyped, we watch a movie, followed by an in depth look at the portrayal of the female characters and gender dynamics. As filmmakers and actors, we’ve always known Hollywood has been feeding us some seriously stereotyped narratives, but with each movie we watch, we realize we’ve been glossing over so many more. 

From “Women Must Fight in Heels” to “The Usual Weeping Scene”, join us as we discuss the tired tropes of cinema and imagine ways to make more inclusive and diverse movies for the future!
