Real World Please
As a lover of art, art museums and pretty things in general, I was excited to find this podcast. Although i appear very late to the show. Five stars for Dr Schaeffer. She is thoughtful and well spoken. Dr Tina Ryan is difficult, at least for me. I wish everyone n the world could immerse themselves in art. Sadly a slim minority has access. Dr. Ryan made me think that art is only appreciated and interesting to intellectuals and collectors. Leave your ivory tour, put on your real person glasses and enjoy the view.

Good…but can maybe become great.
This show is perhaps a little bit too ivory-tower academic for my taste. I sometimes it feels like we’re in the throes of art historical theory’s fairy dust. Plus, the hosts keep threatening to restart the podcast only to abandon it once again shortly after. Them getting their heads a little bit out of the clouds and back on a regular uploading schedule will make a happy listener and this review read as five stars.

Vincent episode
The hosts ignore that people may go into immersive experiences already knowing a great deal about the artist on display. This episode and the hosts come off as elitist, dismissive, and unpalatable when there is plenty of room for these experiences to exist in the art space. Despite pledging not to harp and complain, negativity instantly became the central theme of the show which prompted me to end the podcast. If you cannot have a conversation about something without belittling it, find a new subject.

Excited to find these
I just stumbled across these podcasts and was so so excited. Dr. Schaefer was one of my professors and she was so enthusiastic and her teaching style and way of explaining and breaking things down is incredible. So so happy about the podcasts! :)

Art Historians?
How can you be an art historian and not know how to pronounce Guernica and Elgin?

Clever, insightful, enjoyable through and through.
So glad to see this show back at the top of my feed. This show is both inspirational and relaxing, it’s prescient and engaging topics are well researched and communicated every time. The hosts have wonderful chemistry as well. This is an all rounder

Excellent Podcast
It's a shame you seem to have discontinued this podcast. You are great storytellers and teachers. If possible, please revive this excellent podcast!

The Best Art Podcast I've Found
I love visual art, and understand the ironic, or at least, difficult, nature of having a podcast on it. Most others I've found in my search are extremely dry, I the realm of listening to a textbook being read. This podcast, on the other hand, is lovely. The hosts not only pick a very specific topic for the episodes, but they pick a topic that has a lot to be said about, and relevant viewpoints outside of simply a mini art history lesson not tied to a bigger picture. Well done! Highly recommend if you have an interest in art.

Finally!
Finally, an interesting and relevant art history podcast! I have found that podcasts on the subject aren't great and the picking are slim. These women bring me back to my undergrad art history classroom. It's a great mix of challenging material with plenty of 'exposition' for those listeners without a background in the arts. I appreciate that the topics they cover range time periods, regions, and cultures. I've been looking for something like this for so long and I'm so grateful that it exists! Thanks, state of the arts!

Engaging and informative! I want more!
Tina and Sarah are wonderful art historians who pick interesting topics and discuss them in an engaging manner. As an undergraduate studying art history, I can't stop listening to their podcasts! Now, long drives in traffic or tedious cleaning isn't so tortuous because I get to listen to these lovely intelligent ladies talk! I will say that sometimes they do inject some of their biases into their discussions, but I think it's interesting to know their personal opinions. Please keep this podcast going!
