sports gambling
Jimmy, I thought it was funny how confused you are about the NFL kickoff rules but last week you and Sal got into the in depth nuances of sports gambling. DraftKings has multiple promotions going on and I signed up for the deposit match. It took me half an hour to read the fine print to figure out if I had to bet my money first or my money + DK's matched bonus, or if I could just bet the bonus bet right away and how much I might win. Now that is confusing.

I love this show so I’m giving it a 5-star. But Jimmy, don’t you have a mute button to cover all the coughing and sniffling? If not, try Streamyard as your video platform. Appreciate the shows even when you’re u see the weather!

Jimmy & Sal— The AppleTV remote IS too touchy. It is also very susceptible to slipping between couch cushions. The benefits of a sleek design do not outweigh the downside of being elbow-deep in my couch for half of the afternoon. At the risk of sounding stodgy — bring back the old silver remotes that were the size of a cafeteria tray! And give me buttons I can actually push while you’re at it. I appreciate having a place to bring my very niche, very first-world complaints. You guys make me feel heard.

Come clean Sal.
Sal’s lying about his ignorance of the presidential election. He’s obviously a MAGA dope but ashamed to admit it. Love the podcast, though.

Lovable Crankies
Jimmy loves all the things I find boring, like wrestling, gambling and the NY Yankees. He’s got a whole slew of stuff he dislikes, and will tell you about all of them. He’s joined by His Buddy Sal, who does hapless as good as anyone. Growing up in New York City myself, as kids being Mets fans we would call the Yankees the Crankies, because although they rarely lost, it was never their fault.
Yet, Jimmy is an excellent conversationalist. His podcasts are always entertaining, and I even listen to the wrestling nonsense because he knows it is nonsense and sees the fun in it. He loves his nieces. I don’t miss any of his shows.
The only thing missing is Sal’s wife. She should be on, without Sal, if only to prove that she exists.

Fun
Very fun podcast. Did you call the FAN back in the day?
Have you ever tried or would you try to get Francesa on your pod?
Thanks for the content!

Jimmy, Seinfeld and Larry David
Jimmy, everyone knows that you hate flying and haven’t been on a plane since COVID. Would you take a flight to L.A. for a private dinner with Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David? What would it take to get you on a plane?
Also, you pronounce John Ourand as OH-rand. His Puck colleague Matt Belloni calls him uh-RAWND on podcasts. Andrew Marchand pronounces it OAR-and. Who’s right?

Love the pod
Listen every week and love the pod. But your conversation about the new kickoff rule was ridiculous. It’s not that difficult to figure out. They are trying to promote kick returns while making it safer. So kicking team is encouraged to kick ball to “landing zone” so it can be returned instead of kicking through the end zone and offense starting at 30. Kicking team is encouraged to not let the ball roll into end zone for a touchback by being forced to start at 20 if that happens. Also love that you think the PAC 12 is two teams now and questioning why they haven’t changed the name. The PAC 12 doesn’t exist anymore. You are allowed to read about things that occur outside of the East Coast.

Is Sal in the sports business? Ha ha
I love that Sal does sports for a living, doesn’t know USC going to Big10, doesn't watch college football. Love him, cracks me up how tightly in his bubble he is.

Love the show
Longtime listener, first time reviewer. You’re on a hot streak with great guests and fun interviews. And I love Traina Thoughts with Sal. But I have to go out of my way to comment about how Sal doesn’t even know who the Vice President is. I would LOVE to be living as deep under a rock as he is. Not a care in the world…except for the fear of becoming friends with his neighbors.
Keep up the great shows!

Love the pod
Really enjoy the conversations and the flow of your interviews. You keep it balanced between serious and fun questions. I thought the Brady interview was solid. He never talks outside his bubble so this was new so good for you. I have a question about Sal. What does he do? Isn’t he supposed to be a sports radio host? He doesn’t watch any sports. He says he didn’t watch any nba finals or college games. He isn’t watching any Olympics. He doesn’t seem to know much about football. He also said he didn’t know who’s running for president. It seems he didn’t know who the VP was?
What does he do? I enjoy him though and love the pod

Needs Sal’s wife interviewed
As a Chicago guy I can’t believe these New Yorkers won me over. In the Sports Media space I’m a Deitsch/Traina guy.
Jimmy’s pod is awesome, he’s a Stern guy and he knows how to ask a follow up question during an interview. Traina thoughts with Sal is such a strong close every week. Loved the Sal promotion at WFAN thru the house purchase and can’t believe he stiffed his poor wife on Mother’s Day.
Jimmy has the best guests on and they are always great! Getting Barkley to admit he would never do ESPN shoulder programming was an A+. The last big get is Sal’s wife alone and then Sal and his wife together! Make it happen Jimmy and Sal.

Love the show - it’s not too NY for me!
Two things: please book some baseball guests before football begins and Jimmy said that there were ten things he hates but only mentioned three (fireworks, raisins, people). What are the other seven?

Come for Sports. Stay for Traina’s Thoughts.
This podcast is my go to on Thursday mornings. Listening to Jimmy and Sal (who I wasn’t a fan of at first) reminds me of listening to Mike and the Dog during my formative years of sports fandom. Wish this podcast was 2x-3x a week!

Great show
Great show. Can you ask Ian eagle next time he’s on if he watched the Super Bowl on main broadcast or his sons on Nickelodeon?

Great discussion
Enjoy the business discussions as Jimmy doesn’t hold punches. I bought Sunday Ticket at $150 in 2023. Jimmy mentioned its now $450 in 2024. I won’t renew. Back to crack streams. Don’t need it.

Great intro music
Jimmy, I love your intro music. I jam to it each week. Hate the outro music. It reminds me of the main menu music from Super Tennis or something. Oh, the guests and Sal are pretty cool, too. I strive to care as little as Sal about world events and politics.

Great show but F Grimace
Great show - love the guests, love wrestling. Get MJF on again. Stop whining about the Brady interview though.
F Grimace, as a Yankees fan, it pains me they got swept by the Mets in late June.
I live in upstate NY and the grocery chains now charge .05 for a paper shopping bag!!

Highly entertaining
Hits just the right mix of sports, media and personality. A must-listen each mid-week. The Sal bit is unbelievable great context each week. Grimace-hating??? That’s a high-water mark for this middle aged crisis individual. Hahaha.

Grimace isn’t our bag
I love the pod and I’ve been trying to pick a favorite moment to include in my review. Jimmy and Sal talking about Grimace just moves to the top. From “So is Grimace from Sesame Street?” to “Fun isn’t our bag,” is a perfect snapshot of what makes this pod great. Keep the wrestling AND the sports. Wish I could give it ten stars. Jimmy, please book Grimace. It’s the only way to top Jeter and Brady.

We get it.
Jimmy, give your audience some credit. We aren’t idiots, we know 10 minutes with Tom Brady presented by a company who used to employ OJ is not your standard interview. For the same reason you were willing to compromise and do it, we are happy to not compare the result to the longer conversations you usually have. That interview was as good as it could possibly have been under extremely limiting circumstances. It was an enjoyable listen and if that one ups the odds we get to hear a longer one in the future even better. 99% of your audience will be competent enough to see the difference here and skip ahead to Sal when the guest is a wrestler. Thanks, keep up the great work, and have Andrew Catalon on so the two of you can exchange Seinfeld references for an hour soon.

Brady
What happened wouldn’t he do 15 minutes if you shilled for TB12 too? Don’t sell out. Worst interview since RG3 which was Mount Rushmore. Still give 5 stars since everyone screws up now and then. If that is what he brings to the booth, wow.

Great behind the scenes look into sports!
I enjoy learning about the behind the scenes aspects of sports media and the stories behind the broadcasters which have marriages so many important sports moments in my life.
I really enjoy the segment with Sal as it transports me from my car in Las Vegas to a friendly sports banter at a diner in NYC. I’m also a fellow Billy Joel fan and appreciate the recommendations of great places to eat outside of Manhattan, I hope to visit them on my next trip.

Favorite Pod
Jimmy, love the podcast. I found it summer of ‘22 and have been a loyal listener since. It had always been good and love how you usually ask the questions I would want to ask. Your guest list is A+ - especially in the last 8-10 months with Barkley twice, Scott Hanson, my fellow Boston fan Bill Simmons, Harlan, Bob Ley, just keeps going. And Ian Eagle - he has the best stories. I look forward each Thursday morning to see who’s on deck for that day. Also, I’ve been a fan of Sal’s for a while, back to WFAN overnights. I miss Sal’s house stories and the drama of the search but know he doesn’t and glad he’s settled in. Can’t wait to see who you’ll get for football season. I know everyone is wondering if Brady is the ‘White Whale’ now as far as guest on the pod, besides Dwayne Johnson. Heck, Olson did the pod a few times. Brady needs to step up. Love the pod Jimmy and Sal. Keep’em coming.

Keep this in your rotation for any Sports Media fan
I started listening because Traina has great guests and prepares well as an interviewer. At first I didn’t get the Traina Thoughts segment because I don’t care about NY sports/happenings. But once Sal started talking about the house and Mother’s Day saga I was hooked. As long as it doesn’t end their marriage, Sal’s wife needs to come on so Jimmy can ask where the 2 Mother’s Day cards rank in her all-time gift ranking. Thanks for all you do, keep up the great work.

Always move your pod to top of queue
Listen every week on android so had to figure out how to rate on iPad. Love the interview with Barkley. A must listen every week. Love your Sal segment. Keep up the great interviews.

Really love the show
I love listening to the show and Jimmy does a great job. Hearing Sal's ticket story got me thinking. Can't Sal get credentialed as a member of the media and go to sporting events for free? I Also understand that maybe he wants to go as a fan and be able to cheer and behave differently then if he were there as "media". Thanks for the show!

Great show every week.
Love the interviews and the segment with Sal. Not sure what he was thinking with Mother’s Day and only cards? Flowers at a minimum! Show is a must listen each week!

Give the people what we want: bring on Sal’s wife!

Team Sal on Mothers Day
Why are people so material?! I can guarantee if it was the other way around Sal would be fine on Father’s Day. A house outweighs flowers that die soon

I Rarely Miss This Podcast
I work in sports television and never knew how much information I was missing out on before I found this podcast. Lots of great guests, interesting insights, and up to date information.
Being a New Yorker, I love the Traina Thoughts segments and your conversations with Sal. (That is the only knock on the podcast I hear from others in my field).
I grew up on LI and you sometimes make me nostalgic such as with the many mentions of Maureen’s Kitchen. Keep it up.

Advice for Sal
Sal - I am with you in the doghouse for taking the L on Mother’s Day but I must mention that when I was growing up my dad used the same “well you’re not my mother” on Mother’s Day. 3 years later they were divorced after 20 years of marriage. Flowers go a long way. Let your daughter pick them up and have some fun with that. My boys love picking out flowers for their Mom.
Love the pod, especially Traina Thoughts. Keep it up.

SAL!!!!!
While the interview and post Yankee life check in with Sterling was great, Sal stole the show this week!!! Between the electricians at his house and getting the texts while he works, and then the Ranger game story. I love how he just opens up about going to the game and not telling the wife. There is no way this ends well for him. Can’t wait to hear what happens next week when he checks in. Keep up the great work Jimmy. South Jersey is listening.

Big fan 5 star even with wrestling.
Usually the best thing weekly to listen to. Jimmy talks about the current fun stories of the day. When Sal is on it’s great almost a mini Stern show when they used to go behind the scenes. IMO the best part of the Stern show!
Not in touch with wrestling so I skip those episodes or fast forward to Sal if he is on for notes.

Great takes + going strong with SI changes
Despite all the challenges at SI, Jimmy just keeps getting better. Not spending oxygen on silly rants regarding Kelce / Swift has made the show a lot more focused on media topics and the evolution of the NFL recently (for the better). Give Jimmy a booker so he doesn’t have to worry about that so much! (Although he does a great job booking guests.)
ESpring18
I look forward to this every week.
Always enjoy the guests (except wrestlers) rather be honest, but I listen every week and look forward to it. On multiple occasions, the conversations between Jimmy and Sal are funny, and very entertaining as I’m a relocated New Yorker. Plus, Sal is so easy to relate to (as a married man) as he juggles his personal life with his wife and daughter and big family, his horrible commute, his actual job and now the search for a house that he hopes will solve many of his challenges, but Sal being who he is, will still have a chaotic life. Love the show Kenny S

Last Saturday I was sitting in my hotel room around noon killing time before going to UConn game. Put on the podcast and was excited to see guest was Dan Orlovsky. Being from ct I’ve followed his career from high school through his espn gig. I listen to entire interview. Fast forward to the evening as I’m walking through the msg concourse and who do I see but Dan Orlovsky! First thing I blurt out is I listened to you on jimmy traina today! Then I asked him about the triplets and Reese cups. Strange times for sure

Civics for Sal
Please add a weekly Civics lesson to Traina Thoughts whereby you explain to Sal that not only is RFK Jr not JFK’s son (that would actually be JFK Jr. but also that it’s very important to vote for Biden because he’s a much better President than Trump.

Love everything about the podcast. But Sal, Gio and you could have another pod just talking to each other for an hour. That was great.

Great pod
Huge fan of the pod. I am a Sports media nerd who loves the behind the scenes stuff discussed. Really enjoyed the details Gio gave about the Boomer and Gio morning show. All the pods are great, but the all timer has to be Charles Barkley. That was incredible. Looking forward to hearing Bob Ley. A few people I woild love to hear a pod. Mike Francesca, Boomer, and some hockey people before the playoffs. Emily Kaplan would be great. And Sean McDonough would be fascinating with his great career.

Long time listener
I’ve listened to the sports media podcast for a long time and it’s always been a favorite. As whiny as Deitsch was back in the day, Jimmy has taken it to a new level. I love the recurring guests like Curtis, Marchand, Joe Buck, and especially Mad Dog. Jimmy is consistent and doesn’t act like a fanboy even when he got his long time white whale, Charles Barkley. Sal at the end is a perfect segment to close with - used to think he was a bit of a ballbag but l like him now. PS, Rolen is a much better ball player than Jeter!

Love the podcast! I appreciate him moving the wrestling out of the main feed so I can skip it. I love how Jimmy gets everyone on that we need to hear from in the industry. And the segment with Sal is a must listen every week.

DON’T GET THE “ROMO-ANCE”
Enjoyed listening ti the recent episode with Bryan Curtis. However, the platitudes given to Tony Romo were puzzling. While I agree Romo has an on air presence and sounds like “a guy at the bar”, he was hired to provide analysis and insights. Often, Romo seems to wander through each broadcast looking for something pithy to say and Nantz is often stepping in to “save” him. The best thing that can be done to help Romo is for someone to give him a GPS device so that he can navigate his way through each game he calls. The best things CBS can do is hire Greg Olsen to replace Romo.
