On April 28, 1908 a farmhouse in La Porte Indiana burnt to the ground. Once the flames diminished the bodies of three children and one decapitated woman were found inside. Most assumed that the woman was the children's mother, Belle. When an investigation began they realized it wasn't her. So the question stood: Where was Belle?
