This podcast is super high quality. The teacher speaks clearly but at a realistic pace. The lessons seem to be intermediate to advanced, and the range of topics is fantastic. The episodes I listened to were entirely in PT. I enjoyed the ones on Brazilian culture, too.

Just listening to this podcast really helped me understand and pronounce my Portuguese better. I listen every day.

Caveat: I’m a polyglot. There’s one word for this podcast: ótimo! Virginia speaks clearly, enunciating and pronouncing her words purposefully, and at a proper pace — not too fast, not too slowly. Additional kudos to her because she has found a natural way to weave together both formal language and the more common tongue, while making it look and sound beautifully (I highly recommend her YouTube channel; I listen to her podcasts while I’m driving, and I watch her videos at home). She is very encouraging and comes across as very authentic. Her goal is to get everyone speaking Portuguese without sweating the small stuff — pronunciation, foreign accent, or grammarcide. And she offers all of this freely and for free! You can sign up for her courses, but you’re not obligated to do so. I’m a diplomat moving to Brazil soon with my family, and I feel 100% prepared to hit the ground running because of her podcast and videos!

This podcast helps me so much with my Portugese. I am a native Spanish speaker and these lessons clear up a lot of confusion and increases my vocabulary and improves my pronunciation.

This is a great podcast series for people who are trying to learn Brazilian portuguese as well as about Brazilian culture. The topics are relevant and relatively easy to understand. I appreciate the exaggeration on pronunciation in this podcast, and it makes it a lot easier to pick up the proper accent. 10/10 would recommend, take a listen!

Worth every cent, fun, relevant, informative, supportive, kind, available are some of the things that come to mind. I have tried many online resources to learn português. I started with duolingo then moved on to Pimsleur then private tutors, community tutors. Although I can say that all of those resources helped it was slow going and at times frustrating. I did acquire a basic level of functional português and “portuguingles”. I found Virginia and speaking Brazilian academy during one of my quests to learn more about the subjunctive. I appreciated her easy going and succinct approach to explaining a verb structure or how to use por vs para or todo vs tudo and that sometimes she would give some explanations in English. She also seemed to really love her work. Eventually I signed up for her course online just to try it out and quickly I was sold. Prepared, professional, available, fun, kind, supportive and helpful. She has created a course that pulls all the elements necessary to learn a language, vocabulary, conversation, grammar, repetition, practice together. Best of all it’s affordable. It really is worth more than your paying. Eu posso dizer que eu falo português e se eu não tivesse encontrado o site provavelmente eu teria parado tentando aprender a língua. If you are a beginner at learning português I recommend you add this program to your daily routine. It is a great way to learn proper grammar and pronunciation. I’m only in my 1st month but am seeing how much I’m already understanding of the material. I look forward to continuing with this podcast series.
