This week I go over some of my favorite Hindi Films of 2020! Many films I was looking forward to got delayed, but overall we still saw some great films in 2020! Especially with streaming services increasing their presence in India, Indian audiences were still seeing great content in the form of films and web series.

This week I talk about Jagga Jasoos, directed by Anurag Basu and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Saurabh Shukla, and Saswata Chatterjee. Jagga Jasoos is one of the only Indian films that I've ever seen that is a musical in the true sense of the word, as most of the dialogues in the film are actually in song. This film is one of the most inventive and delightful films that I've ever seen and I really urge everyone to check it out! I feel like every single aspect of this film including and especially the cinematography, music, and acting are expertly crafted by the entire team. I also go into why I think we don't see any more true musicals in Indian cinema. Please check this film out on Netflix!

Kabhi Vishnu Kabhi Adithya is now South Asian Talkies! Hosted by Adithya Rajan
In our first episode after our rebrand, I talk about Super Deluxe, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja and starring Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Samantha Akkineni, Mysskin, and Ashwanth Ashokkumar. The film was written by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, Nalan Kumarasamy, Mysskin, and Neelan K. Sekar.
Super Deluxe is a pathbreaking film that I felt was a sort of perfect amalgamation of all the wonderful and positive changes that have been made in the Tamil film industry over the last decade. It's an expertly crafted film which weaves together four different narratives, all of which could make great films on their own. Please check this one out on Netflix!

This film is a family drama about four brothers and their dysfunctional relationship. The film tackles complex themes such as toxic masculinity, misogyny, and mental health. This week we talk about our first Telugu film: Brochevarevarura, directed by Vivek Athreya and starring Sree Vishnu, Nivetha Thomas, Satyadev, Priyadarshi, Rahul Ramakrishna, and Nivetha Pethuraj.
This film is a crime comedy adventure that follows two storylines: one of a young filmmaker narrating his script and one of three friends in a college. This film is one of the best Telugu films that we've seen and is expertly written by Vivek Athreya. The performances are all hilarious and the story takes wild twists and turns that we loved seeing. Definitely check this one out if you've never seen it!

This film is an adaptation of the Shakespearean play Hamlet, set in the backdrop of the Kashmir Conflicts of 1995. We discuss the brilliant performances and direction. We particularly discuss how brilliantly they adapt the story to an Indian background, and discuss individual scenes that we thought were interesting ways of adapting the original story. We also discuss the music of the film and how it added to the storytelling and atmosphere. Check this movie out for another brilliant performance by Shahid Kapoor!

This week we talk about Vikram Vedha, directed by Pushkar–Gayathri and starring Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi.
We change up our usual discussions of Hindi films for an awesome Tamil film that we both love. Vikram Vedha is a neo-noir gangster thriller that involves a modernization of an old Indian folk tale, Baital Pachisi. We discuss some of the reasons why we loved the film including the performances and direction. We also delve into some of the more technical aspects which add to the world of the film like the production design, music, and cinematography.
