Wonderful podcast
I love learning more about each song and the stories of how the song has affected people. Creativity and artistry are explored and felt in a way that only music and personal stories can evoke. Please keep producing more episodes. Thank you.

More Please!
I found this gem of a podcast a year ago and binged all the episodes I could find here and on the BBC website. I only wish more episodes would be posted on a regular basis. The stories behind the creation of the songs, the impact they’ve had on others, and social context bring me so much joy at a time I really need it. Thank you! Hope to hear more new episodes

Wonderful and moving
Just discovered this gem. Every episode I’ve listened to this afternoon (four thus far), has been absorbing. Gentle, humane, sometimes very uplifting.

So much more than just about a song
Doesn’t matter if you know the song or not, this podcast contains very moving, interesting stories from all kinds of people about how the song affected them. Wonderful

Soothing and therapeutic
Have been subscribing this podcast for years. It’s always been one thing that carries me through in my difficult time. Music, stories shared by different people, it reminds me that I’m not alone with a certain situation, and music can always add positivities and light in the darkness.

A must listen - please never stop
Truly the best music podcast that exists. Incredible stories woven in with the theme of the song covered. Listen to every episode, even if you don’t know the song, it’s worth it.

This is Why Music Exists
This podcast isn't about the hottest new groups and it doesn't tell you why you should be listening to a particular artist. Soul Music is storytelling by the artists and by regular people. We all have those special songs, the ones that were the soundtrack to our childhood, the ones we fell in and out of love to, the songs we turned to when a parent died, the song we blasted after getting our first job promotion. This podcast picks a song and then lets people tell their story about what that song meant in their life. The result moving, sad, touching, joyous, and beautiful.

Best podcast of all time
For me these are the best podcasts I have ever come across. Moving, beautiful, engaging - you see music and people in a new light.

Prepare to Cry
These chosen songs are each celebrated through the stories told. We all connect to certain songs for whatever reason. It’s fun and sometimes deeply emotional to hear them explored here. So glad that this podcast has picked up again after its hiatus. It’s a favorite.

What music means to people, in their own words
I love rock music. When I looked at the list of songs and pieces BBC covered for this show, rock was in the minority, so I was skeptical that I would get anything out of it. But I gave it a try, and was completely won over. Each show features interviews with a number of people who have been deeply affected by the song in question. You never hear the interviewers themselves, and actually only hear clips of the song. The focus is completely on how meaningful music can be for people. Even for songs that I've never liked, such as Hallelujah, the stories are so moving, so well selected, and so well edited that I found that I could not stop listening. This would be fantastic to use in a music appreciation course. Just a remarkable achievement.

Changed my relationship with music
I love hearing the stories behind each song or piece of music. It gives me a peek into other people's relationship with each piece and reminds me how music enriches or lives and souls.

Lovely
My wife and I really enjoy this podcast, and I share it with my teen sons too. I have not seen a new episode in months though and hope it is still active. The first reviewer who gave one star is entitled to his opinion and I must add: I work around wine and visual art and listening to this podcast, I don't see anywhere near the pedantry or affectation I sometimes experience at work or that I occasionally did in art school. I enjoy hearing people's stories about their personal connexion to a piece of music and an occasional critical or technical analysis. I find it all well-balanced and thoughtful. Is pedantry a pedantic word though :-o ?

Sorry, too much academic nonsense.
I tried to listen to several episodes, too much sillyness. It suppose to be deep and soulful, not an exercise in nonstop senseless chatter. Wow, more people treating great music as a way of trying to make themselves feel important, it reminds of the b.s. crap I had to listen to in art school. I'm sure some folks love it, not me. Ciao.

THIS
Should be considered right up there with all the great music podcasts. For any rock junkies, this is a great podcast with relatively short episodes to listen to.

LIFE-CHANGING
This is simply the most brilliant productions I have ever experienced on music. Its so carefully produced and unearths how music is a doorway to understanding that surpasses language, identity, geography, history. We know this but this program shows us how we actually experience the soul of music through human narratives. Thank you a million times over.

Amazing Podcast!
After listening to the episode on "Don't Leave Me This Way," my girlfriend and I were so devastated (in a good way) that we were rendered emotionally vulnerable enough to confess our love for each other. Won't forget that moment. Many other episodes are just as powerful. More!

Fantastic program
I discovered two life changing pieces of music through this podcast. The format is fantastic. It interviews key people who give insights into the music and explain why it's so magical through their personal experience with the piece. It's hard to describe how wonderful the format is. It's a exceptionally well produced program. Well done BBC.
