Giving is an important barometer of one's faith. It shows where we are in our relationship with God. Our willingness to surrender everything to Him is an indicator of the condition of our hearts. But whenever we hold tightly to our resources, and we refuse to honor the Lord with our wealth, it shows that we do not really trust Him.
