Located in Spring City, Pennsylvania, Pennhurst State School and Hospital has been called a mistake and has brought shame to the state. Many people with disabilities were sent there for specialized care, and many left with tragic memories and pain. The trauma inflicted inside of this place has resulted in many reported hauntings today. Currently, an annual Haunted House is operated inside of Pennhurst, but there is a lot of criticism surrounding how people with disabilities and mental illnesses are portrayed.
