What happens when one leans away from the organic? How do we consciously and subconsciously position ourselves in society, from who we are, to what we choose to do?

What is the importance of play in “serious” creative pursuits? Where is the line for taking a creative practice seriously? Is there a line? 

I’m asking a lot of questions here, but I think the most important one is what does it mean to fail when you try?
