What does it take to trust yourself again when the world has been loud, the grief has been real, and you spent years pouring everything into someone else's survival? In this episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen sits down with Shannon Allman, journalist, late-diagnosed autistic and ADHD adult, and widow of the legendary Gregg Allman, for one of the most tender and honest conversations this show has ever had. Shannon opens up about her decade of quiet healing, the routines that keep her nervous system anchored, and what it cost her to pour herself entirely into caregiving while she quietly disappeared. She also shares what it was like to watch Gregg Allman the persona step forward and Gregory the man step back. She spent her formative adult years caregiving for her beloved late husband with cancer, a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, while touring the world with his band and working in digital media. When she was widowed at 28, she didn’t understand why she experienced a total mental and physical shutdown until being diagnosed years later with autism, ADHD, Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome, C-PTSD, and other comorbid conditions exacerbated by caregiver burnout and grief. She’s spent the last 9 years devoting her life to researching the connections between grief, trauma, abuse, illness, neurodivergencies, giftedness, and high sensitivity and to learning the skills and practices needed for healing and thriving. She finds purpose in helping others navigate grief, illness, trauma, and late diagnoses via her social media which sees up to 4 million monthly viewers. She’s a lover of God, deep conversations, meditation, her cat Tupelo, and underdogs.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shenanigansallman/ How to Connect with Dianne A. Allen Dianne A.
