The Goddess Cori is a non-binary performance artist and sex worker. When I spoke with them in July, they recently entered semi-retirement after being in the industry for eight years. . With their clients, Cori performs reparations play; an approach they developed after speaking with other sex workers who do similar work. In these play sessions Cori seeks justice as a Black American by doing sadistic acts to their clients, and of course – taking money from them.

To understand how Cori got to this moment, we reflect on their first experiences with kink and entry to porn. Then we discuss how sex work – like all forms of labour – can lose its luster after a while, why they were nervous to attend pride events over the summer, and what they envision for their future.
