Myth #9: A God who loves people wouldn’t let bad things happenWelcome to Season 2! This season is all about busting up myths about the church. This week we’re busting the myth that if God really loved us, He wouldn’t let bad things happen to good people. The truth is that bad things happen because God gave us free will. He didn’t make us rule following robots, giving us free will to choose whether or not to love and follow Him. The hope we hold onto as Christians is that God has a bigger plan for us because He loves us, no matter what good or bad may come. ____________________________________________________________________________Scripture ReferencesSeason Memory Verse - Romans If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.Genesis 1-2 - Creation Story, Garden of EdenGenesis And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree of the garden, but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.”Genesis 3 - The Fall, The Serpent tricks Adam and EveEphesians Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for herJohn A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.
