Brendan Clay & Andrew Fazzolari - S.A.S.H Lockdown Radio Mix (September 2020)
Watch the entire four-hour effort here: vimeo.com/459221923 --- Over the years, there are very few phone calls that we've enjoyed receiving more than those from Cris at @sashsundays. A large, red, circled calendar date typically follows the conversation, accompanied with resulting excitement in preparation for our next S.A.S.H date. Whether demanding a sweaty, pumping late-night/early-morning shift in The Den, the lower, slower, disco vibes in The Maze, or a sun-soaked warm-up effort at S.A.S.H By Day; bookings at S.A.S.H quickly become personal highlights and are always, always subject for excitement. While the pandemic nears its two-year mark and there has been very little joy outside of a few brief pockets of dancing, we were offered a unique opportunity in the interim: We were—quite literally—handed the keys to the kingdom for the purpose of throwing down another edition of S.A.S.H's Lockdown Radio series. (And what a sweet space to spend an afternoon, it must be stated!) We approached this as an opportunity to build our own theoretical S.A.S.H By Day composition—albeit, a condensed rendition of four hours—beginning with melodic, deeper vibes as a "warm-up", and running through deeper house, dashes of disco, with some top-drawer signature S.A.S.H-esque chuggers towards its conclusion. Two parts Attic, two parts S.A.S.H, and plenty in-between. While you're no doubt spoilt for choice with DJ mix content online nowadays; we hope that this offering will quench your thirst for all things S.A.S.H in your lounge room or office, in preparation for a time we're all back together again on the (real) dance floor before too long. And how sweet that will be. P.S. The first hour is available here: https://soundcloud.com/themshift/brendan-clay-sash-lockdown-radio-mix-13th-september-2020

DJs In The Distance 007: The Lockdown Sessions (February 2022)
As the dreaded pandemic rolls on—and we quickly near the two-year point—we're due for another entry: Despite believing we had probably delivered the final chapter of our 'Lockdown Sessions' series back in December 2020; 2021 had a bit to say about that! Accordingly, with no real end in sight, the series continues—now, the seventh entry. (The James Bond edition, if you will.) Normally, we'd collectively circle a date and eagerly await our next opportunity to catch up—beers, banter, laughs, and of course, the tunes. During this current—now prolonged!—period, said opportunities haven't afforded themselves, and we've been forced to get a little creative with regard to a platform for sharing and consuming music together, flexing our creative muscles in the process. Re-enter 'The Lockdown Sessions'. DJs In The Distance. Resuming operating for the seventh edition. We've once again mixed up the order to keep things interesting. If you're unfamiliar, it's a DJ take on "pass the parcel"... in the best way possible. Play four tracks and pass it on. Four more, and on she goes. Without any specific plan nor objective in mind; just four of your favourites—newer, older, a guilty pleasure, a cherished favourite, or something experimental. Whatever you please—it's your stanza. This is the result: a (hopefully) cohesive 80-odd minutes of music from four mates. Four like-minded individuals. Compiled and mixed indulgently within our respective abodes. We hope you continue to enjoy it as much... --- : Tracklisting: : Brendan Clay: 01 : Jesse Futerman - 'Eyes Open' (Original Mix) [SOBO] 02 : Carlo - 'Despues De Nunca' (Original Mix) [Honey Butter Records] 03 : Simple Request - 'Blurred Winds' (Original Mix) [Groovence Records] 04 : Soul Wun - 'Lily Flower (Adele)' (Original Mix) [SlothBoogie] : James MacGregor: 05 : Spring Reason - 'Venera' (Groove Tools Remix) [Luna The Cat] 06 : Cesar Del Rio & Angel Mora - 'Beautiful Dawn' (Original Mix) [I Records] 07 : Julian le Play - 'Tausend bunte Träume' (Vincenzo Remix Instrumental) [Universal Music] 08 : Greymatter - 'Tisno' (Original Mix) [Unique Uncut] : Ryzi: 09 : DJ Seinfeld - 'Through That Feeling' (Original Mix) [Young Ethics] 10 : Spencer Brown & Qrion - 'Rainy April' (Original Mix) [Anjunadeep] 11 : Eelke Kleijn - 'Control' (Extended Mix) [Oscillations] 12 : São Miguel ft. Brendan Clay - Live at Attic presents Tilman at Cake Wines (17th March, 2019)
Here's one from the archives—a live mix that, for some reason, I've never made public. It was recorded during one of our Attic @atticsydney events for which we toured German house and disco maestro, Tilman @tilman. In contrast to our earlier events that stretched long into the early morning hours at the Civic Underground or Harpoon Harry; this event was a far more intimate, Sunday afternoon affair hosted at Cake Wines' Cellar Door—a beautiful venue which is now, unfortunately, no longer. Despite the unseasonal March rain, the venue's Funktion One system sounded immaculate on the day, assisted by the house Rane MP2015 rotary mixer—also very much enjoyed by the jocks on the line-up. Of course, the free-flowing selection of natural wines kept all in attendance fueled and cheery right throughout, as expected. This particular offering was an early-ish, warm-up effort from me, featuring selections that tickled me at the time that, in my humble opinion at least, still stand up reasonably well today. It's mainly on the disco edit tip for the most part, there is plenty of vinyl included, and it also drifts into more deeper, melodic and breakbeat B-side territory, too—mimicking the melancholic cloud cover outside, perhaps. (I'll let you be the judge.) Anyway, I hope you enjoy this one, if nothing else! Hope you and your families have a wonderful—and safe—Christmas and new year holiday period. Catch you on the other side, no doubt. x P.S. Tilman also published his set from later in the evening—during which, a couple of Attic residents also joined him!—which is available here: https://soundcloud.com/tilman/tilman-attic-sydney-march-17th-2019?in=themshift/sets/attic --- : Tracklisting: 01 : Andres - 'Pluck Away' (Original Mix) [La Vida] 02 : Ethyène - 'Lost In Thought' (Original Mix) [Kyoku Records] 03 : Soulphiction - 'Welcome To My Limited Capabilities' (Original Mix) [Soul Imago] 04 : The Posse - 'S.A.M.' Brendan Clay - First Mix In The 404 Digs with Mia Listening On (November 2021)
Most DJ dads—particularly newer ones—will likely confirm that stealing an uninterrupted hour to yourself to throw a few tunes together becomes a bit of a rare treat. The wife and I have spent most of 2021 handling significant life changes: selling an apartment, buying another one, moving into said abode, bringing a brand new life into the world, settling into our new roles as (human) parents, and all the fun and challenge associated with that—all during a pandemic, no less. Accordingly, opportunities to lock oneself away for a gluttonous hour of music have not presented in abundance. Well, I was lucky enough to do just that last week! It was my first proper mix in our new digs, overlooking leafy Carlingford, and certainly the first since welcoming little Mia into the world. (She didn't offer much in the way of a reaction at the time, but there's still time—I'll keep working on her!) This is an hour of music, somewhat hastily thrown together, without any meticulous planning, rhyme, nor reason. Included are a few newer burners that were previously untouched and unplayed, along with some largely forgotten—and, indeed, recently relocated—gems on vinyl from yesteryear. In short, if I thought it might sound reasonable at the time, it went on. If you fancy a listen, you'll hear efforts from Sune @emilsunesson, Tilman @tilman, Retromigration @retromigration, Finnebassen @finnebassen, Session Victim @sessionvictim, Clive From Accounts @clivefromaccounts and Felipe Gordon @felipe-gordon, to name a few. Hope you dig!

In any case, despite believing we had probably delivered the final chapter of our 'Lockdown Sessions' series back in December; 2021 has since had a bit to say about that! Accordingly, with no real end in sight—and hot on the trail of the fifth!—we decided to keep the dust off this format and serve up what is now the sixth entry. Gems From The Attic 002: A Collaboration (September 2021)
Promo Video: https://www.facebook.com/atticsydney/videos/564920698291514 It's that age-old, well-worn cliché: "music is the essence that brings us together". Well, cliché or not, it couldn't be more accurate in considering this offering. The last little period has not been without challenge: the dreaded lockdown—the second coming, as it were. We have been apart, away from the DJ booth, away from the dance floor, prevented from doing the thing we love: sharing our passion for the music for which we dig deep. Very deep. In the spirit of breaking through these challenges, we've grouped together and constructed the second part of this little project: a concoction of sound, delivered by a selection of five like-minded individuals, separated by circumstance. What we have here is, in essence, a DJ mix—a few clicks over an hour in length. Five DJs, three tracks a pop—one kicks off; the next joins... then the next... and the next. Burners, killers, fillers, fresh cuts and perhaps forgotten Gems from the Attic—all delivered in one cohesive package. It's us—Brendan Clay & Andrew Fazzolari—and we have, once again, placed ourselves in esteemed, incredibly talented company with this effort: Gary Ward, Mark Cameron and Sim Maree are all highly-accomplished technicians and loyal supporters of our brand, who have graced our DJ booths with their presence at various times since Attic's inception in 2017. We'd love very much to enjoy those opportunities again soon! (For now, we have this.) @andrewfazzolari @gary-ward @sim_maree Make no mistake... this is a very Attic effort. If you're still reading, it's probably time to press play. We hope you enjoy! Gems From The Attic 002: A Collaboration (September 2021)

Brendan Clay - Live at Altar Danceteria, Attic Sonic Selection (10th June, 2021)
We made a big return to Harpoon Harry last Thursday night, waving our Attic flag once more for its 'Altar Danceteria' series—a part of the Sydney Solstice winter celebration. It's probably without saying, but the ol' Harpoon holds a very special place in our hearts as we've created some pretty special memories over the years—during which we've welcomed the likes of Cody Currie, Bellaire and Ethyène to our fine shores!—as is evident by an abundance of offerings populating my Soundcloud account. School night or not, we packed the bags and boxes for an evening of tunes, and this particular mix is the opening hour(ish) of the night played by yours truly. I kicked things off low and deep—just as we like to!—steering clear of the typical 4x4 selections often heard a little later! This is very much a "warm-up", and I hope it does the job for you, too. The slo-mo flavours included are illustrative of a style I've really tried to evolve and develop over the last year or so, and something that has become a personal passion. The tracks are often very short, lack a "DJ friendly" comfort taken for granted with a lot of house music, but do offer some "interesting" opportunities for on-the-fly transitions and mixing—it's quite raw and it's honest. Nevertheless, it definitely keeps things interesting... and me on my toes! Within, you'll hear originals and remixes from the likes of Saine @saine, Queen (yep!), Retromigration @retromigration, Inkswell, Boryn @boryn, E-Live @elivebeats and DJ Steef, to name just a handful. Thanks very much to Sim Maree for joining us for the evening, too—she played the house down with a super-fresh disco set and is someone you're likely to see popping up all over Sydney soon! Hope you like! x

Andrew Fazzolari & Brendan Clay - Live at The Foxtrot (April 2021)
It's been a long minute since we've published a mix—that isn't to say that we have spent the last year in hibernation, however. Indeed, we spent most of 2020 plying our trade at a toasty, over-the-bridge establishment called 'The Foxtrot', playing warming selections for a thirsty, seated crowd. When playing gigs at the ol' Fox, and of a similar dynamic in recent time, we've been promoting more slow-mo, lo-fi and hip-hop-oriented sounds—often steering clear of a repetitive 4x4 kick drum—regularly flipping over to a cool, relatively unknown B-side and exercising the depths of our collections in the process. This is one example that we really quite enjoyed, recorded live, opening the night at The Foxtrot, and we thought it best to share here. Within, you'll hear originals, remixes and releases from the likes of Eend (Sondrio), E. Live, Sable Blanc, Outkast, Waxtefacts, Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee, Drake, Editorial Records and Evren Furtuna to name a few! We hope you enjoy, all the same! x

DJs In The Distance 004: The Lockdown Sessions (December 2020)
Here it is: the final chapter... probably. With a few months delay between the second and third effort; we challenged ourselves to finish the final edition before the end of the year, which meant completing two in a month—and hey, we made it! So, for (perhaps) the final time; here is the write-up and context of this little project, completed during a particularly challenging year for most: Normally, we'd collectively circle a date and eagerly await our next opportunity to catch up—beers, banter, laughs, and of course, the tunes. In this current climate/during this challenging period; said opportunities haven't afforded themselves, so we've been forced to get a little creative with regard to a platform for sharing and consuming music together... and flexing our creative muscles in the process. Enter 'The Lockdown Sessions'. DJs In The Distance. Now, the fourth and probably final edition. We've once again mixed up the order to keep things interesting. It's a DJ take on "pass the parcel"... in the best way possible. Play four tracks and pass it on. Four more, and on she goes. No specific plan nor objective. Just four of your favourites—newer, older, a guilty pleasure, a cherished favourite, or something experimental. Whatever you please—it's your stanza.
