Joel Leon is a performer, poet, author and storyteller, born and raised in the Bronx, who writes and tells stories for Black people. He is also the Creative Director at the New York Times, and an advocate for The Scatter Joy Project. Joel has been featured in the Columbia Journal, BBC News, Sirius XM, Forbes, Insider, Medium, the Huffington Post, and has spoken and performed at the Apollo Theater, The Lincoln Center, and more. He joins host, Zach Thompson, to talk through the meaning and value of community, taking his time to redefine it in a way that is more impactful for the liberation and healing of others. Joel shares his insight on mindfulness, connection, and how we can collectively fight to build bridges for a better, more compassionate world.
