Kangore has left town and the group behind in order to take on the Black Decay on his own. However, the disease and fungus of the Black Decay has begun mutating the flora and fauna of the woods and nearby lake. As he goes deeper into the woods, he meets some nebulous characters who he makes a deal with in order to get closer to the heart of the Decay.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Maniacs have figured out Kangore's ruse and debate on even going after him until a cry of help from the woods forces their hand into the darkness.
