Music is a big part of RPGs, especially JRPGs. The panel select a great mixture of soundtrack to create an enthralling experience along with an explanation of the setting and background of the selected music. Sometimes the melody even helps me to sleep!(but I always end up listening to the missed part :) ) Great work and keep it up!

i don't usually listen to podcasts, but RPGFan's podcasts are fantastic. Rhythm Encounter and Retro Encounter have made my trips to and from work something to look forward to. Rhythm/Retro Encounter have even pulled me out of my room on my days off to walk over to the neighborhood coffee shop, just so that i can listen to the podcasts on my walks there and back! RPGFan staff really know what they're talking about-- whether it's stories of artists who worked on Chrono Trigger or it's musical techniques and styles. I'm more a fan of Rhythm and Retro rather than Random because i like structure and themes, and Random seems sort of ... well, random! But Random is fun to listen to as well, because everyone sounds like they're having so much fun. Please check out RPGFan's podcasts, even if you're not really a podcast person! And thank you, RPGFan, for making me fall in love with video games all over again!

If you’re a fan of video game music, particularly RPGs, then this is a podcast for you. I’ve picked up several RPGs based on their music alone. The hosts pick a new topic each week, play tracks from a variety of RPGs and then have short discussions based on the material. Although they hosts are not trained in music theory, they are passionate about what music can bring to a game and focus on how music enhances gameplay. Many of those who dwell outside the realm of geek culture often look down on video game music as an inferior art form. This show aims to combat that stigma via exposure. The show pulls music from RPGs both past and present making each episode fresh and engaging. After each episode I find myself with a large list of both games and artists to Google. Whether you’re looking for a new RPGs series to check out or just some great music, this podcast has something for everyone.

This podcast has been great to listen to while working on other things. It has a nice variety of music presented, with interesting commentary in between. It's been good to discover new RPG music and refind old favorites.

I don't listen to podcasts, but when I do it's this one. Both hosts are hilariously knowledgeable about a genre that I enjoy yet know barely anything about. The best part is they make it known that that's okay, they preach that you don't have to have context to love the music. I've since been way more open-minded to music from all walks of games, especially RPG's. Avid listener now!

Awesome Pod Cast. Anyone who remotely enjoys the music in games will love this ensemble put on by the two fantastic virtuosos hosts.

This is a fantastic podcast for fans of VGM. The hosts are very entertaining and knowledgeable. In addition to fan favorite tracks that most RPG fans are already intimately familiar with, they show off a lot of hidden gems from some really obscure albums and different arrangements of some of the more popular tracks. Listening to Rhythm Encounter is a wonderful nostalgia trip that makes you want to replay or discover the games they discuss and relive the songs in context.

If you love RPG music, this is your podcast. These guys play the music you love, and you can tell that they love the music they play. Episodes are really a joy to listen to since there's always a theme, and it's fun to hear what tracks they pick to match the theme. I've also been introduced to several great new soundtracks through this podcast, so expect to find a lot of new favorites.

I love VGM and this crew definitely know their stuff. It has the best podcast intro song as well. They have a variety of themes and go in depth about each selection which is really a great thing to hear. With a variiety of tastes, a new discovery is found with every podcast! I really like this group of people.

Still getting its feet under it, the hosts seem to have really found a nice direction that explores a special topic such as a specific series or in-game context while also sharing some new soundtrack release information. Would benefit from better editing songs but it’s a small price to pay.

This is a great podcast for anyone that loves videogames becausse you have that one loop in your brain that you always hum, this show will give ou many more. Guys please do a SMT podcast or a Nier podcast. that soundtracct is flawless and it needs to reach more ears

This spin-off podcast has far exceeded my expectations. It feels like a more relaxed version of Random Encounter with the obvious focus on music. Listening to the two hosts and a guest for a while and then some great VG music works better than I thought. If you like Random Encounter, this one is a no brainer.

I'm busting at the seams everytime a new episode is released. You won't find another podcast like this one. All of the different host's sync ratio is off the charts. They are informative, funny and always stay on topic. These guys know there stuff and deliver it exceptionally well. Thank you so much for putting this thing together! I look forward to driving home from work and being able to listen to this stuff.
