The fifth chapter of First Timothy discusses how Timothy should care for others. Paul tells his readers to care for widows and that families should care for each other. To take care of family is to honor God. Paul then gives some specific advice for widows on how to honor God. Shifting from family care, Paul encourages readers to care for the church's elders. He gives specific instructions to financially support those elders who teach and not give in to gossip about others. The chapter ends with specific instructions for Timothy's health and encouragement of good works.
