These verses in Genesis move us from the good world to the very good Garden of Eden. When God had finished His work of creating, He sat on His throne and watched over it. God ceased (rested) from creating, but He has never ceased from sustaining the creation. The seventh day has no ending because God will continue to do this forever.The Ten Commandments call us to honor the Sabbath, that is, to have faith in the Creator of the universe by recognizing only He can sustain things.
