Health and wellness trends on social media are constantly growing, and it’s becoming harder for us to tell the difference between health fads and concrete facts. In this episode, I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Amanda Raffoul, from Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Raffoul is researching how social media health trends can induce disordered eating patterns amongst adolescents and adults. Her work at Harvard STRIPED (Strategic Training Initiative for the Prevention of Eating Disorders) leads to policy-driven change such as regulating the sale of weight loss supplements to minors. Listen in on this episode to learn more about the research Dr. Raffoul has and continues to contribute to at both a local and global scale.
