Good podcast outside authors constant bizarre political commentary
I have enjoyed several of this authors podcasts except for the truly weird far left political comments he constantly injects into his topics. The podcaster is a Marxist who can’t help himself and keeps sabotaging his podcast with truly bizarre political commentary. If he left out his constant political nonsense this would have been an excellent podcast because otherwise he is pleasant to listen to and gives some great information and advice about retirement.

I used to really enjoy this one and still to most of the time, but inevitably a political slant crept in so going to unsubscribe.

Wise Wisdom
Update- I’m 56 now and still listening- wow! Retired 2.5 years and enjoying every moment though it can be a challenge in a strange way. I’m 53 and have been listening to this podcast about 3 years as I prepare for retirement. It is the one that I look forward to weekly. I even went back a binge listened to many of the episodes. It has been a reassuring refreshing comfort about many aspects of life and retirement. So unique among ALL the retirement podcasts- this is a gem. 😊 thanks so much and please keep posting!

Wonderful insights about life aside from the needless off-topic dig at a past dead president. But that’s Del

A great and enduring podcast
====Early 2022==== I wrote the review below years ago. In that time I have continued to listen as Del posted conversations weekly. After 17 years into my retirement he continues to entertain and inform me. Financial retirement advice podcasts are a “dime a dozen”, and many of them are over priced! Del uniquely offers life advice for retirees, a podcast like no other. ====Early 2010’s==== An informative and entertaining podcast by a good friend. Although Del and I have never met, I have evolved a one sided relationship with his podcast persona over many years of listening. Someday I hope to share an in person moment to tell him how much he has influenced my enjoyment of retired life. Till then I will continue to download “Retirement Talk for Boomers, Seniors, and Retirees”. I find his calm and nurturing style and his well thought out topics a soothing interlude to the shouting on the internet. I look forward to many more years of his guidance and insights offered on this webcast . . .especially now that his guitar playing has gotten better! :)

Personal reflections on LIVING in retirement
This is a thoughtful and personal podcast on retirement. I love that Del doesn’t focus on investing, saving, or other typical topics you find on retirement podcasts. His topics may mention money, but in the context of using it well. I appreciate his perspective on living well in a way that is truly accessible to most people. Love the background guitar and his voice too!

Like good advice from an old friend
Del provides valuable insight to the many emotional challenges that accompany retirement. I find his topics of discussion to be right on target with my own considerations. I greatly appreciate the thought provoking dialogue and relaxing guitar in the background. Thanks and keep ‘em coming.

Gen-Xers Will Like This Too
As an older GenXer who is planning to retire in the next five years, I find Del’s thoughtful podcast lovely and inspiring. He gives me lots to consider as I start imagining what kind of retirement I would like. Please keep at it Del!

Best Podcast by far
Del's best podcasts are #534 and #374. Just completed listening to everyone of Del's thoughtful podcasts. His easygoing, articulate, philosophically inspiring, concise podcasts are a tremendous pleasure to listen to and learn about interesting and important life stories and lessons in a relaxing manner. Thank you so much Del, wishing you the best, have a super day!

Pandemic retirement!
Retiring from teaching unexpectedly this summer has been quite a shock to me. Finding this podcast has been quite an encouragement to me! Discovering new passions as well as being open to change have been the topics I have chosen to listen to at this point in time! Thank you Del!

Inspiring and Pracrical
The advice Del offers for the important things in retirement like maintaining a purpose intentionally, following routines, uncovering what makes you passionate or happy make me look forward to retirement. Sure, having money in retirement is important., and as Del says, there are plenty of other podcasts that explore that topic. But what about the quality of your life in retirement? Del makes me think about this on the regular, and I feel like when the day comes, I will spend some of the happiest time of life in retirement, and that will be thanks to Del’s advice.

A great podcast!
Del was one of my most influential teachers in high school during the mid to late 1970s. I always enjoyed listening to him speak as a teacher and I now look forward to each podcast that he produces. Keep up the good work, Del! Rog

Awesome podcast
I am 56 and planning to retire in a few years. I love thinking about and planning my retirement lifestyle and not focusing on the money. Thank you, Del!

Inspiration
Love listening to your calm wisdoms of pre and post retirement. I am struggling with finding a new passion. Health issues with my husband have clouded my vision which has put our new retirement ventures on hold. We want to do road trips in areas we may consider to relocate in or just explore and as you mentioned “moving on” is the key. Your analogies and experiences in pre and post retirement enlighten me and so put things into perspective. Please keep the podcast coming.

Just Discovered You, Del
Really enjoying all the food for thought that you’ve dispensed. Thank you! You need an icon for the podcast though. How about two retirees relaxing in twin hammocks?
Just hilarious
Great job Dell
Most Sunday mornings while having coffee I listen to Dell. I enjoy his slow relaxing style as well as his teaching stories about life. I am very close to retirement and am attempting to learn as much as I can about this subject in hopes that I can avoid some of the typical pitfalls. Thanks Dell for doing this.

Sage Advice
Love these podcasts. Del shares his thoughts and reflections on life. In an era when technology and science reign supreme, wisdom tends to play second fiddle to knowledge and information. It's good for the soul to take time to reflect on life and take six or seven minutes out of the day and listen to the wisdom of someone who looks at life thoughfully and deliberately. Thank you, Del.

5 stars (and 3 cheers)!
Just discovered this podcast two weeks ago, and I’ve already enjoyed 25 episodes. Del is fabulous! I’m not quite ready to retire, but in full-on preparation mode. Age 58 and wrestling with the health-insurance-gap-until-Medicare issue; Del’s episode on this topic is superb. I appreciate Del’s wisdom and real-life experience. Keep up the great work!
Hope this post goes through
Love the Wisdom
Del is easy to listen to and shared wisdom that is not at all preachy... and I appreciate that! His retire lifestyle gives me something to aspire to. Love the short length and his guitar playing. 😊

Insight and wisdom
This is about the complexity of retirement. But, mostly the softer, more difficult side. Things you’ll have to think about to get the most out of it. Subscribe and enjoy!

What I Needed To Know . . .
Since I am going to be retiring in 5 months, I find this podcast very informative and of great interest for the questions that everyone seems to want to ask me today - What will you do when you retire? Del helps me figure that out and know what options can be available. Great listening and enjoyment, thanks!

Retirement!!
Thanks to Del for thoughtfully sharing his experiences about retirement. Not a financial planning podcast. This is more about lifestyle during retirement. I’m a few years away from retiring, but I’m getting a picture of what my life might be like when I make the leap.

Retirement Talk for Boomers
I enjoy the personal antidotes that speak to the soon-to-be retired baby boomer - me. He uses a conversational style that makes me feel I am having a cup of coffee with someone who has some experience with this stage of life.

THE really useful podcast about retirement
If you want to be sold investments or penny-pinching money advice, look elsewhere — there are many others who are making pitches. On the other hand, if you want thoughtful insights on LIVING and continuing to grow and learn in a meaningful retirement, Del Lowery has a lot to offer. Give this podcast a listen!

Enjoyable low key
I subscribed to this on a lark. The podcast is always brief and highly personalized but always entertaining and reflective. I have been listening for over a year and have grown to wonder what is on Del Lowery's mind each week. While many may not model their retirement on this podcast, I enjoy the intimate sharing of priorities, habits and choices. Interesting mix. Update: now it is more than a year of listening and I continue to marvel at the valuable reflections that this podcast delivers. If the numbers of ratings reflects the audience size then this qualifies as a hidden jewel- which is sad. I find the humility of the musings to be grounding in an otherwise overhyped medium. Keep up the good work.

Worth your time
Good insight of retirement. I started listening a year or two before I retired. The podcasts are thoughtful & short. It’s easy to focus if you’re still working and have a tight schedule.

The Best Lifestyle Podcast Ever!
I am glad I discovered this podcast prior to retirement. Del Lowrey talks about "living" in retirement (not just the financials). He's shows you how to approach retirement in an open and interesting way without fear. Love it!

Great role model
The only thing that could have been better is if I had found this before I retired. It is a wonderful collection of what is really important in approaching retirement and then having a successful one. Del is very listenable, like a great wise friend who is truly interested in you and your life.

ALWAYS UPLIFTING
Been listening for 3 years. I look forward to each episode. In today's world of retirement podcasts full of financial advice, this one is an oasis of humanness and gets you back to real life. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

Enjoyable
Retirement should be about enjoyment of life, not solely focusing on money. This podcast refreshingly focuses on enjoying retirement, reflecting on it, and appreciating its many facets. A joy to listen to and ponder.

Retirement Talk
Relaxing presentation of Del's ponderings of his, your, and my retirement. Listening to an episode is a great break from The Hype the constantly bombards us. This is my podcast home. Please stop by--you might like hanging out with Del as much as I do!

I just listened to the latest of Del's podcasts... "The Good Old Days" and could not delay rating a moment longer. My favorite episode for sure! Really insightful stuff, delivered in a very kind manner but never sappy. This is a very kind, very intelligent human being.

Im young and enjoy this
Im pretty young, 20, and i listen to quite a number of episodes in this podcast because i feel it talks about things that do matter. I would recommend it.

Well done and always interesting
I have an addiction to podcasts and I listen to many of them. This is one of my favorites. The podcaster puts a lot of effort into the production and research for the topic that he is covering that particular week. And he's interesting to listen to. My only regret is that I have now listened to all 400+ of his podcasts, and now I just have to wait for a new one to come out each week.

Relaxing
So many podcasts on finance, usually before you retire, but there is so little like this to prepare your "attitude" for retirement. I consider this part of my mindfulness studies in preparation for retirement.

Don't miss a podcast
I started listening to Del's podcast when I started thinking about retirement. Now I am semi-retired and I am going back and starting at episode 1. His podcasts are both interesting and each one makes you think.

Thank you for helping!
I found someone that makes me feel OK about my decision to retire at 56. Family was the main reason, but I also felt that the only reason to continue working was money. Thank you Del for sharing experiences that I can relate to. I share your thoughts with my wife and others when retiirement comes up. Thanks again from a fan in Texas!

Retirement talk with a dose of liberal philsophy
I've enjoyed a number of episodes, but starting to get annoyed at the pans of things conservative. I can promise the podcast author, it was not progressive fiscal philsophies that created the system that let him retire in his 40's and continue to collect a check for the rest of his life.

Always a pleasure
I feel like I’m listening to a good friend provide insights and food for thought as I approach the retirement years. There is great variety in the topics and I’m always left wanting to hear more. I like to go back and check out the older episodes. Thanks Del

Very Good and Surprising
I was sort of expecting more of a nuts and bolts financial planning podcast, but this turns out to be more of a lifestyle, philosophical discussion. It is a pleasant surprise. The host is very good, although some of the guests I find somewhat less so. There are some technical glitches with the editing of some episodes, but not annoying enough to rate this any less than 5 stars.

Calm and Inspiring
This podcaster is such a nice respite from the fast-paced screamers out there. His voice sounds laid-back and retired. But his ideas about life, things to do, health, and a ton of other subjects inspire me to lead an active, stimulating lifestyle. This philosopher keeps coming up with ideas for his show and I'm grateful he is willing to spend the time to share his experiences with the rest of us!
