Professor Dr. Swierstra is the Head of the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Maastricht University (Maastricht, the Netherlands). He is also currently an adjunct professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)(Trondheim, Norway). Tsjalling’s field of expertise is in the ethics and politics of new and emerging science and technology (NEST). He has published numerous research papers and reports covering moral controversies of immerging innovations including cloning, new reproductive technologies, genomics, food technologies, nanotechnology, synthetic and system biology, artificial gametes, neuroscience, and converging technologies.
