Room: STG-10 Anne Weibert, Michael Schulte, Ilaria Fioravanti   Anne Weibert: When Ideas Learn How to Fly: Crossing Cultural Boundaries with Geocaching Project Work This study of a geocaching game project in an after-school initiative explores such project work as a means to foster cross-cultural understanding and respect among children in diverse neighborhoods. Main findings indicate that the computer-mediated collaborative activity in geocaching is apt to 1) bridge formal and informal learning contexts, and can thus support individual as well as collaborative learning effects, and 2) support the individual as well as collaborative development of a sense for space and place, and thus the building of a local community. Ilaria Fioravanti: The future of learning Some educators in Germany and elsewhere question whether teaching digital technology to children from a young age is productive. Some say school is not the right place to learn about these digital tools. But educators at Herman-Nohl Schule, a European primary public school (Italian/ German) in Berlin’s troubled Neukölln neighborhood, take a different approach. They are influenced by recent research showing that, for example, multimedia learning is a highly effective way for children to acquire knowledge. That is why the school employs the latest digital tools while at the same time making students aware of the potential, the limitations and the dangers of the digital revolution. Michael Schulte: Klexikon.de - Auf dem Weg zu einer "Wikipedia für Kinder" Sehr viele Kinder nutzen die Wikipedia in Schule und Freizeit. Für Kinder geschrieben ist das Online-Lexikon aber nicht. Aus diesem Grund gibt es ein neues Projekt: Klexikon.de, eine Art “Wikipedia für Kinder”. Gefördert wird das Kinderlexikon, das unter CC-Lizenz steht, von Wikimedia Deutschland. Bis Ende 2015 sollen die ersten 1000 kindgerechten Artikel entstehen. In einem Wiki, versteht sich. Und als Weihnachtsgeschenk für alle Kinder im deutschsprachigen Raum.
