Under Canada’s Indian Act, prior to 1985, a woman who married a non-Indigenous man lost her Indian status, and risked being evicted from her reserve. A new documentary tells the story of a Mohawk woman who lost her status and fought for more than two decades to get it back and end sex discrimination under the Indian Act.
