The Caddo Indians roamed the forest lands in this area in a much earlier time. Steamboats occupied the chain of lakes, bayous, and the Red River, transporting passengers, laborers, cotton and booze.
He began to develop his own style of music after exposure to various musical influences on Shreveport's Fannin Street, a row of saloons, brothels, and dance halls now referred to as Ledbetter Heights
