The sermon contrasts the godly prophet Samuel with King Saul to illustrate God's sovereign providence and faithfulness to His covenant despite human rebellion. It explores how God used Saul as a judgment for Israel's demand for a human king, thereby exposing the futility of earthly government and the necessity of divine rule. The preacher emphasizes that while Saul was chosen by the people based on outward appearance, God looks to the heart, pointing ultimately toward the true Messiah who fulfills the roles of prophet, priest, and judge. This narrative serves as a reminder that God never forsakes His people, offering hope through the promise of a greater King than Saul or David. The message concludes by urging believers to recognize their need for spiritual rebirth rather than relying on external advantages.
