In Acts 10 verse 28, Peter speaks to Cornelius, a Roman centurion, and says, "You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile. But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean."
This verse captures a significant moment of revelation and transformation in Peter's understanding of God's plan. Until then, Jewish customs and laws had kept them separated from Gentiles. However, through a vision from God, Peter learned that God's salvation is for all people, regardless of their ethnicity or background.
Peter's statement reflects a shift in perspective and a recognition that God's love extends to all people. He emphasizes that no one should be considered impure or unclean solely based on their ethnicity or cultural differences.
This encounter serves as a pivotal moment in the early church, highlighting the inclusion of Gentiles in the expanding Kingdom of God. It demonstrates the breaking down of barriers and the invitation for all people to receive God's salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
Let us not judge or consider others as impure or unclean based on outward differences, but instead see them as valuable individuals loved by God. May we strive for unity and embrace diversity within the body of Christ. Amen!
