In 2019 my husband and I were working on our foster care license. Somehow I found this podcast around that same time. I feel like the conversations with Jamie and her guests have taught me SO MUCH MORE than I could have ever learned just sitting through my training. My perspective has changed for the better about reunification, adoption and bio parents. I feel like there’s a community of women out there who see me and have lived my hard days and I know I’m not the only one. Thanks, Jamie for your dedication not only to the children in your home but to all of us who are in the day to day along side you.

I found this podcast through the Goods and Better store and started with episode 1, now on episode 11. So far I am loving the many different backgrounds of these ladies have (infertility, bio kids, various adoptions, fostering, etc.) It is very healing to hear women with similar feelings, struggles and solutions to myself. Highly recommend this for any mom considering adoption or fostering.

Such an incredible podcast with truth and light for everyone, but especially for those with a heart for foster care and adoption and just any mom in general. I’m not a mom, but I binge listen to this podcast and can’t recommend it enough.

I listened to all the episodes available as we went through foster care training and awaited our first placement. We got our first placement 3 months ago and this has been the biggest help because there isn’t a strong community of foster families in our rural area. So thankful for this podcast and all the powerful advice and experiences that are shared!!

I’ve been listening to this podcast for 3 years and have been so encouraged and challenged by it. I plan to foster and adopt in my future, and have been able to use the information and conversations I’ve heard to be a better support at my church and be more trauma informed through my job as a Speech Language Pathologist. As I begin my foster care training classes these podcast have been so informative and inspiring. They have normalized my fears and spoken God’s truth into them at the same time. I feel more prepared to parent kids from hard places and more equipped to face the inevitable chaos of joy and pain and trial and error than I was before.

I am a huge podcast junkie and this one caught my attention big time! I have been binging it all week, I haven’t even listened to my “never miss” podcasts yet this week. I just couldn’t stop listening. Finding a good podcast on foster care and not just adoption is a rare find! This podcast isn’t just “Christian” it is CHRIST-centered. It’s not just about logistics, suffering and hardships, it’s about HOPE in this messy world of foster care and how God is making us more like Him through it all! In the unpredictable world of foster care there are so many unique experiences that not many people around us face. I had many touching moments listening where someone said something that beautifully put into words exact feelings I’ve had. It made me feel less lonely in this space. Many times I stopped what I was doing to jot down a quote from an episode and have passed it along to others. Thank you for giving the best content for us momma’s in the trenches who doing their best to faithfully obey God daily in this hard calling! Now to wait for a new episode...

My only complaint is I want more episodes. I love the community this podcast gives, and I love hearing how other foster moms are coping and thriving and how God is working in their lives. I am always left wishing for more! Thank you!

This podcast has been one of the most informative and motivating tools in my journey to becoming a foster parent. It seems to cover the basics while at the same time helping us understand that there are no two journeys exactly alike. For anyone thinking of becoming a foster parent or wanting to learn more about this world, this is a MUST.

Listening to the Real Mom podcast is like sitting down intimately with friends discuss your heart and life and being able to hear someone out loud understand the life we lead every day as mamas, with foster, adoptive, or bio, or combos. sometimes being a mama, especially for me, a single mama, is hard, and this gives me more people in my tribe to learn from without leaving my house, while I’m doing laundry.

I am always waiting for the next episode to be released. This podcast is so encouraging, challenging, and just what I need on so many days. Jamie makes it fun and relatable!

Jamie’s perspective encourages my heart whenever I need it, both through the podcast and her instagram page. It’s been such a joy to hear this podcast. My soul resonates with so much of what these woman speak about. I’ve been a foster parent for a little over a year. My husband and I had no biological kids and within the first year had a 5 year old, a 15 year old, and a 5 day old! We are currently trying to adopt! It’s been quite the journey and it is so encouraging to hear that I’m not the only one having the same feelings and emotions! Love this podcast!

I kid you not, I found this podcast this morning before I left for work and now it’s lunch and I’ve already binge-listened to all of the available episodes. I’m a soon-to-be foster mom and I don’t not know any current foster parents. I love this podcast because it is giving me resources (books, wise experience, etc) to be the best mom I can be, not only for my future children, but for my bio child. It is giving me the feeling of community, even though I am alone. I can’t wait for future episodes and feel blessed to have stumbled upon this podcast.
