In a match that started quite equally in Kiev there were initially few chances. Madrid, however, were simply probing one could say. As time ticked on it became quite clear the difference in quality. With stellar performances from Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo and Benzema the Madrid attack slowly began lay siege to the Shaktar defense.
The Brazilian in particular put on an exhibition as he danced through the area on the occasion of his second goal, ending the move with a deft chip into the goal as if to punctuate the point that the early season doubters were wrong.
Shaktar to their credit kept playing throughout. It could even be said that until the own goal breakthrough for Madrid they were holding their own. Yet on the other hand as the match wore on it became clearer that Madrid was only just getting started.
