The gift of teaching is one of the most prominent gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is so well known because it is one of the most publicly used gifts. One of Paul’s most promising disciples was a young man named Timothy who had a gift for teaching. In the first of two letters written to his young apprentice, Paul teaches Timothy the important foundation of good teaching. Pastor Philip shows us in this lesson how God uses those who have been given the gift of teaching and uses them to build the body of Christ.

The gift of mercy is the supernatural power to see the needs of others and to meet their needs. God uses the merciful to teach His children to see those who have been overcome by hardship and gently bring them to a right relationship with God. In this lesson, Pastor Philip shows us how Jesus used the gift of mercy to bring desperate people to the Father through meeting their everyday needs.

Through their obedience to Christ and commitment to unity, they played a part in Paul’s ministry and have been an example to Christians throughout history. Their simple testimony not only blessed Paul, but also showed the rich result of pleasing God through obedience to unity.

Many believers will acknowledge the importance of unity in the church and in their personal lives. It is not something that comes without any effort. It takes intentional focus and determination to be someone who brings others together.

Trophies are a big deal to us. More than likely, growing up there were celebrations over your accomplishments. What would it be like to be part of a team only celebrated individuals and obsessed about what each person had individually accomplished? In this passage of scripture, Pastor Philip teaches that some of the greatest hindrances we face in our walk with God are obsessing about our individual accomplishments at the expense of the body of Christ.

We can tell a lot about what God values by looking at His priorities. He is the ultimate unifier and we have the greatest example of the lengths He has gone to bring His creation together. In this passage Pastor Philip explains how sin has divided us, but God has brought all of us together through His priority of putting others first.

According to Paul, unity is one of the greatest indications that we belong to God. In this passage we see that God has given us the gift of unity and how it plays a crucial role in our lives as believers. It is the defining attribute for God’s children to be a unified family. But we shouldn’t be surprised when opposition comes from the world, both outside and inside the church.

Is faith the same as belief? One of the greatest lies that Satan tries to convince God’s children of is that they are the same thing. But that’s not what God’s word says. In this passage, the Apostle Paul teaches us that faith is the path to a miraculous, free life. As children of God, we have access to the ultimate freedom, but many times that freedom is bogged down by a worldly perspective of our circumstances. In Christ there is freedom and an invitation to see the world with limitless opportunities.
