In 2022, we released our first episode on artificial sweeteners. In 2023, the World Health Organization released new guidelines on artificial sweetener intake and classified a particular sweetener, aspartame, as a Group 2B carcinogen. We take a deep dive into the huge paper that was cited for the new recommendation and discuss whether or not our view on artificial sweeteners have changed based on this literature.
