Welcome to our primate observation podcast,  my group has been researching two species of the great apes, the bonobo and chimpanzee. Today we are going to be talking about the commonalities chimpanzees and bonobos share with homos-sapiens. The first, and most obvious similarity being a shared ancestry. Both these species of ape are known to be homo sapiens closest living relatives. Bonobos share a remarkable 99.6% genetic similarity with humans, which is slightly higher than the  98.6% chimpanzees share.
