Riga x Aarhus is a soundart platform where six artists from Riga and Aarhus (Toms Auniņš, Sabīne Moora, Anna Ķirse, Olga Szymula, Merlyn Silva and Filip Johan Arnestad) collaborate and present compositions and installations. In a three-day workshop the artists will trans form Riga club, Aristīds, into a sonic exploratorium where new musical possibilities will be tested. Experiments will lead to compositions and improvisations that will be presented in a public concert. The musicians’ modes of expression range from techno, electro-acoustic, trance, neo-classical, to avant-garde and drone. Aarhus will be the European Capital of Culture in 2017 and Riga x Aarhus is part of the European Capital of Culture 2017.
