On this episode of Previously Learnt, we were incredibly fortunate to speak with diplomat Charlie Stuart.

Charlie is a world renowned leader, with a career in some of the most demanding and high stake environments in the world.

Charlie has a background in military, international diplomacy, law and strategic security.

In diplomacy, Charlie's roles included Deputy Ambassador to Iraq and Head of Delegation to Tanzania, his current role is as Chief Security Advisor on Africa for the European Union.

This was such an inspirational chat, with life lessons which have certainly changed my life in how I will approach certain tasks.

As you can imagine, we spoke of many things, including :

  • Enjoying life and being curious
  • How to approach a huge challenge
  • Why story telling is important
  • What is diplomacy
  • Why dancing in the rain is important
  • What simple question you should ask yourself before going to bed
  • Why not working at 100pc is beneficial
  • Why understanding perspective is so important
  • Being a proud parent (Charlie's son, Will, plays rugby for England)

I hope you enjoy
