Love this podcast!
This is a great way to learn Portuguese. First, learn some grammar, then use this podcast to learn practical conversation. The format is very helpful! They start with a short, realistic conversation. Then go over it slowly, line by line explaining the words and practicing the pronunciation. Love it!!!

European Portuguese
Thank you for providing this amazing podcast. I’ve been married to a Euro Portuguese for 10 years and living in the states, it’s hard to find classes that are not Brazilian. So finding your Journey class and the Podcast has been great for me. My husband has no patience to teach but he is willing to help me now that I’m finally trying to learn. So muita obrigada.

REALLY excellent way to learn European Portuguese!
This podcast is the closest you will get to taking an actual class which is not so easy to do in the times of COVID. Carla has a wonderful, melodic voice and her kindness actually feels palpable. I could be wrong about that—she could be a beast-haha!! But she SOUNDS like someone you would be lucky to call a friend. I genuinely enjoy listening to her. And her pacing and pronunciation is absolutely perfect for a language learner. This podcast should be MUCH MUCH more popular.

The best
I swear if all language podcasts were like this one..... excellent! Unfortunately I have decided to become completely fluent in Spanish first, and there is no Spanish podcast that comes close to this level, which makes me sad!

Outstanding
Just an outstanding podcast for learning Portuguese. They go through the transcript word by word, and explain everything clearly. They also have some quizzes and learning aids for each podcast. Both Carla and Marlon also provide really helpful insight as native Portuguese speakers. Very impressed. Thank you for such a great resource.

Well done, MUCH NEEDED European Portugese
Finally! This is what I’ve been looking for, a tool to help not only learn European Portugese phrases & vocabulary but most importantly to learn to HEAR it the way it’s really spoken, which in Portugal is crucial!! We’ve spent a lot of time in Portugal over the past year, taken private courses, use Quizlet, and have tried every CD course I could find and I still could not get this language into my ears in real world time. And I’ve always been kind of ‘good’ with languages, at least conversationally. I enjoy these podcasts as well as the clever videos on their website of ordinary scenarios, to learn to hear European Portugese the way it’s really spoken by real people in each situation (not just TV announcers!) Then they’re replayed, broken down sentence by sentence, both written and spoken slowly, the second time using an announcer’s perfect pronunciation (which is then helpful). Most learning programs err by ONLY using a perfect announcer’s pronunciation, which believe me will not help at all in Portugal!! Not even when watching the news! 😉

Good, but could use some polishing
So I’ve been learning Portuguese (via Duolingo) for about a year now and have a basic understanding of the language. In an effort to grow my skills especially with listening to native speakers & speaking I’ve started listening to this podcast. I think it’s alright, and it’s been helpful, but it suffers from some flaws in my opinion. One is that the two hosts don’t seem very organized, they regularly have to work out who is saying which part of the lesson, the lessons can have widely varying structure (sometimes they’ll start with the full Portuguese, sometimes they put it at the end, sometimes it’s left out completely), and they regularly talk over each other. Second the audio quality (especially the guests) is quite poor both in the podcast and on the online lessons I’ve looked at. It’s crazy difficult to make out what they’re saying when you can barely hear it with the volume at 100% and they’re quickly speaking in another language. I understand that Portuguese people speak fast, but when you’re straining to hear it it makes it that much more difficult. Finally I’ve spent some time reading the content on the website, and I’ve noticed numerous spelling and grammatical errors. Normally I’m not a grammar nazi, but in the case of establishing yourself as a language teacher I feel that you should be held to a higher standard. In the end I feel that it is a useful tool, and I’m grateful for all the different tools that Carla & Marlon have made available for free. In all fairness I’m about a third of the way through the first series so all of these issues may be resolved in the latest content, but the problems I’ve seen so far don’t instill much confidence in me for purchasing the paid content (private 1 on 1 lessons) anytime in the near future. I’ll keep listening, and if I feel like these issues get resolved toward the end I’ll happily revise this review. Until then, feliz aprendizado!

What a find!
I’m studying European Portuguese with a wonderful teacher in my city, but class meets just once a week. I feel that I need more practice listening and pronouncing words correctly, and this podcast is perfect for my needs. It couldn’t be better if I had submitted a wish list of everything I wanted. Muito obrigada!

From Atlanta to Lisboa and Porto!
Carla and Marlon! Thank you so so so much for doing this European Portuguese podcast! Two years ago, I decided to travel to Portugal for my 30th birthday. Several months ago I started listening to your podcast to prepare for my trip. I am here in Lisboa now, and while I’m not fluent in Pt by any means, the podcast is definitely a huge help. I am making small conversation and pleasantries with the beautiful people here and get compliments how much I can understand and speak Pt. In a few days, it’s on to Porto where I will practice more! My favorite podcast! An amazing country!

Fantastic!
I love this podcast (and all of the amazing learning tools that go with it)! Good resources to learn European are hard to find and over 5 years I've looked through a lot. This podcast isn't only just teaching me new vocabulary, but local sayings and culture which is HUGE in helping me to comprehend meaning. Carla & Marlon present the material in a truly engaging and fun way. Thank you for all of your hard work. I can tell that you put a lot of time into making this the best. Muito Obrigada!!

This is a excellent podcast
I am an educator in the United States. I have been listening to this pod cast for about 8 weeks. Before this pod cast and the learning center on their website I was unable to retain much Portuguese at all. In just 8 weeks I feel Very comfortable and much more excited about my trip to Portugal. The learning enviroment and the podcasts are fun and down to earth. It would take a book to describe how greatful I am for having found this podcast. Thanks guys keep the fantastic content comming. I went from just wanting to visit another country to desiring to become fluent in the beautiful langue of these lovely europeans.
